Shevchenko’s Unstoppable March

Is there anything Valentina Shevchenko can’t do in the octagon? At 37, she’s out here making younger fighters look like they’re stuck in quicksand. Her latest victim, Manon Fiorot, came in with a perfect UFC record and left with a lesson in humility.

The Fight That Wasn’t Close

Shevchenko, with the precision of a surgeon and the patience of a saint, picked apart Fiorot over five rounds. Fiorot tried to clinch her way to victory, but Shevchenko wasn’t having any of it. It was like watching someone try to hug a cactus.

The fourth round was a masterclass. Just when Fiorot thought she was making headway, Shevchenko dropped her and then, for good measure, spun around and smacked her a couple more times. Because why not?

Records Are Made to Be Tied

With this win, Shevchenko ties Amanda Nunes for the most wins in women’s UFC title fights. Not bad for someone who’s supposedly past her prime. If this is what ‘past her prime’ looks like, the rest of the division should be very worried.

Fiorot, to her credit, didn’t go down without a fight. She bloodied Shevchenko’s nose and had her moments, but it was like bringing a knife to a gunfight. A very sharp knife, but still.

What’s Next for the Champ?

Shevchenko says she’s not done yet, and who are we to argue? The woman is a machine. The flyweight division is running out of challengers, but in MMA, there’s always someone new waiting in the wings.

So, what do you think? Is there anyone out there who can dethrone Shevchenko, or are we just waiting for her to retire before the belt changes hands?
