The Curious Case of Pereira’s Vanishing Tweet
What do you get when a fighter tweets something controversial then claims he was hacked? A load of old tosh, that’s what. Daniel Cormier, never one to mince his words, has called out Alex Pereira for his recent social media shenanigans. Pereira’s tweet, which mysteriously disappeared faster than a kebab at 3am, suggested he was retiring. Then, quicker than you can say ‘cap’, he blamed it on a hacker. Seriously?
Cormier’s No-Nonsense Take
Cormier, the former UFC double champ turned pundit, isn’t buying it. On his podcast, he labelled Pereira a liar, pointing out that the tweet was too specific to be the work of a random hacker. It’s not like they were pushing crypto scams, after all. Cormier reckons Pereira had a strop over a potential fight with Magomed Ankalaev and the UFC had to talk him down. Sounds about right.
The UFC’s Drama Factory
Let’s face it, the UFC is no stranger to drama. Fighters throwing toys out of the pram is about as common as a rainy British summer. But Pereira’s excuse is particularly weak. If you’re going to lie, at least make it believable. Claim your cat walked on the keyboard or something.
Meanwhile, the rest of us are left wondering what’s really going on behind the scenes. Is Pereira unhappy with his contract? Does he fancy a break? Or is he just trying to stir the pot? Only time will tell.
What’s Next for Pereira?
If Pereira thinks this little episode will be forgotten, he’s got another thing coming. The MMA community has a memory like an elephant and a sense of humour like a teenager. He’ll be hearing about this for a while, especially if his next performance isn’t up to scratch.
So, what do you think? Was Pereira genuinely hacked, or is this just another chapter in the never-ending saga of fighter tantrums? Drop your thoughts in the comments – unless you’ve been hacked, of course.
